I mentioned in an earlier post (”Your Green Real Estate Agent”) that I am committed to acquiring a working knowledge of and eye for green techniques, technologies and programs relevant to the homes we live in.

Accredited Green Agent

I”m excited to say that I’ve taken a measurable step in that regard. Today I received confirmation of my designation as an Accredited Green Agent™. What is that, you ask?

It’s a third party designation awarded by the National Association of Green Agents and Brokers (NAGAB). NAGAB is a Canadian not-for-profit association the object of which is to improve the professional competence of its members through various programs. As to the designation, in the words of the Association:

“These designation are only awarded to those who meet the Association’s strict requirements such as required Green building courses and involvement and service to the Association. It is the vision of the National Association of Green Agents & Brokers to be seen as a positive force in promoting ways of improving energy conservation and environmental awareness of buyers and sellers of new and resale residential real estate.”

Does this make me an instant expert in things green? No, not at all. In fact, it probably just scratches the surface of the vast, and rapidly growing, volume of good, relevant information relating to green real estate. Nevertheless, the materials covered in the courses leading to this AMA™ designation lay a solid foundation of knowledge which can be applied directly for the benefit of home owners and home buyers alike.

Again, I’m inviting you to share your insights and knowledge with others – just use the area for comments below on this page. And whenever I make new green discoveries, I’ll share them here too, with you.

Bye for now,

  1. Congratulations on your accreditation. We need more green real estate agents everywhere. Green issues in real estate are going to be so much more important as people become concerned with IAQ and Energy Efficiency
